Thomson Foundation trainees were enlisted in the fight against Nepal's election irregularities
More than 20 reporters from TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and the national news agency, participated in the country-wide training courses
One of Nepal's election commissioners, Ayodhee Prasad Yadav, told the course members: "Journalists are core agents for the election"
Thomson Foundation trainers worked with Nepalese journalists to help deliver fair, responsible and open reports in the run up to the elections to the country’s Constituent Assembly. The training, held in different centres, encouraged journalists to change the emphasis of reporting in the Nepalese media towards reflecting the needs of the people and calling politicians to account.
